Each of our four buildings is a tribute to the enduring beauty and resilience of our forests’ resources. Acknowledgment of the Original People of this Land

World Forestry Center acknowledges that the Portland Metro area and Washington Park rest on traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River (Portland Indian Leaders Roundtable, 2018). We thank the descendants of these tribes for being the original stewards and protectors of this land. We also acknowledge that Portland has a thriving Native American community today, with descendants of over 380 federally-recognized Tribes represented in the Urban Portland Metropolitan area.
