Our Museum
Change the Way You See the Forest!
The dramatic 20,000-square-foot wooden building has been a Portland icon since 1971. Visitors get a bird’s-eye view of a northwest forest, explore society’s connection to the woods, and learn about the challenges and opportunities facing this critical natural resource.
Through interactive and featured art exhibits, visitors can learn how the way forests are managed affects everyday lives and how they are crucial to the forestry conversation.
Museum Hours
Monday – CLOSED
Tuesday – Sunday – 10 am – 4 pm
The museum is closed on Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day.
Museum Admission
$8 for adults
$7 for seniors (age 62+)
$5 for youth (3 through 17)
Free for children 2 and under
Free for veterans & active military.
Discounted admission for Museums-for-All.

First Floor
The first floor focuses on the many roles that forests play in our lives. View the forest as a habitat, a place for recreation and reflection, a critical resource, and more.
Share your thoughts and experiences at our special exhibit, The Future of Forests.
Second Floor
Much of the second floor takes a global perspective, exploring how people around the world are connected to and dependent on their local forests.
Our upcoming featured exhibit, Sasquatch: Ancestral Guardians, opens May 30, 2025.

World Forestry Center is happy to support other organizations who are working to help further a social cause or provide a public benefit. We can donate two 4-person passes to our Discovery Museum (valid for eight people and a $64 value) to your fundraising efforts.

ARTIFACT DONATION POLICY
World Forestry Center and the Discovery Museum is not an archival collection-based museum. Although we appreciate those who reach out to donate mission aligned artifacts or items for our museum, we unfortunately do not have proper storage capabilities or, resources to preserve items as part of a permanent collection archive. Therefore, we are not accepting unsolicited archival donations at this time.
