In early May 2024, our Fellows gathered for a two-day educational workshop as a conclusion of year one and transition into year two of the program.
During the program’s first year, our Fellows learned from educational and community leaders about the impacts of wildfires. In the second year, they will use what they have learned to create individualized engagement plans that position them as leaders in addressing wildfire issues impacting their communities.
In this video, we travel with the Fellows to Medford, Oregon, where they learn from practitioners on the ground about forest management practices used to mitigate the risk of large and severe wildfires.
Emily Brew, Co-Founder and Chief Strategist at Perennial Strategy, shares her experience working with World Forestry Center and the new Fellowship Program.
About the Fellowship Program:
World Forestry Center’s two-year Fellowship Program empowers leaders from multiple sectors to engage with a critical issue impacting our forests and communities. Our current cohort, focused on wildfire, includes 10 individuals from diverse backgrounds. These backgrounds include public health, energy, carbon, indigenous communities, social justice, and more. You can meet our current Fellows in this video.
Our Fellowship is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
