About the Discovery Museum

Located in Portland’s forested Washington Park—just steps from the MAX Light Rail—World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum invites visitors to explore forests and reflect on the many ways they shape our lives.

Housed in a striking 20,000-square-foot wooden building that has been a Portland icon since 1971, the museum offers a bird’s-eye view of a Northwest forest, examines society’s relationship with the woods, and highlights both the challenges and opportunities facing this vital natural resource.

Through interactive exhibits and featured art installations, visitors discover how forest management impacts everyday life and why forests play a critical role in conversations about climate, community, and sustainability.
