WFC Awards Two Local Nonprofits Venue Grants

April 7, 2026

[PORTLAND, OREGON]

World Forestry Center is pleased to announce the two non-profit organizations selected for our 2026 Complimentary Venue Grant Program: People of Color Outdoors and The Confluence Project.

People of Color Outdoors (POCO) – People of Color Outdoors create healing outdoor experiences that deepen connections to nature and community, cultivate environmental leadership, and normalize BIPOC presence across Oregon’s natural spaces. Through outdoor recreation, education, and community-building, POCO helps ensure that everyone feels welcome in the outdoors.

The Confluence Project – The Confluence Project works to connect people to the history, living cultures, and ecology of the Columbia River system through Indigenous voices. Through public art landscapes, educational programs, and community partnerships, Confluence highlights the cultural and environmental significance of the Columbia River and elevates Indigenous perspectives in the stories of the Pacific Northwest.

This is the fifth year for the World Forestry Center Venue Grant offering a local non-profit a complimentary rental of either Miller Hall, Cheatham Hall, or our Cheatham Hall/Plaza combination (up to a $4,750 value). Previous recipients include Children’s Healing Art Project, College Possible, Coalition of Communities of Color, Pacific Lamprey Conservation Initiative, Northwest Native American Chamber, Business Diversity Institute, Portland Indigenous Marketplace, and Loco Por La Aventura.

“We’re continually inspired by the passion and creativity of the non-profits in our community,” said Jennifer Kent, Event & Visitor Services Director at World Forestry Center. “This grant is about opening our doors and creating space for organizations doing meaningful work. We’re thrilled to welcome People of Color Outdoors and The Confluence Project to our campus and look forward to supporting the connections and conversations their events will bring.”
