World Forestry Center is pleased to announce the successful utilization of its Complimentary Venue Grant by 2023 grant recipient College Possible Oregon, which recently held its “Caps Off!” celebratory event. This grant initiative aims to support local nonprofits by providing them with a complimentary venue rental to host impactful events.
The Complimentary Venue Grant is an annual initiative by World Forestry Center to support local nonprofits and establish new community partnerships. Each year, two local nonprofits are selected to receive a free venue rental, enabling them to allocate their resources towards their mission-driven activities rather than venue costs.
College Possible Oregon (CollegePossible.org/Oregon) is making college admission and success possible for students from low-income backgrounds through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. College Possible Oregon’s event, “Caps Off!” held in Miller Hall on June 5, 2024, focused on celebrating the accomplishments of College Possible alumni and the organization’s work towards educational equity. This event brought together community supporters, program alumni, education partners, and many other stakeholders, making it a celebratory night for both the nonprofit and the local community.
“We loved hosting our event at the World Forestry Center! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful space. It’s so humbling to receive such generosity from a fellow nonprofit,” said Emma Hoyle, Individual Giving & Major Gifts Officer at College Possible. “The WFC’s grant program is a true example of nonprofit partnership and collaboration, and we are so grateful.”
Now in its third year, the Complimentary Venue Grant demonstrates World Forestry Center’s commitment to fostering community engagement and supporting the vital work of mission-aligned partners. By providing a fully equipped venue in the heart of Portland, we aim to facilitate meaningful connections and experiences that benefit the broader community. The 2024 grant recipients included Northwest Native American Chamber and Business Diversity Institute.
“We are thrilled to see how College Possible Oregon utilized our venue to host such an impactful event,” said Alli Gannett, Communications Director at the World Forestry Center. “As a nonprofit, we are always looking to support other local nonprofits. We are delighted to have played a part in the success of this important event.”
World Forestry Center will open the next grant cycle in January 2025.
