Curtis Robinhold
Executive Director, Port of Portland
“As the Executive Director of the Port of Portland, I have long recognized the critical intersection between sustainable trade, environmental stewardship, and community impact. Joining the board of World Forestry Center allows me to contribute to global efforts in forest conservation while advancing the Port’s commitment to environmental sustainability and regional development.”
Curtis serves as executive director at the Port of Portland, a role he has held since 2017. He has been a key proponent of building environmental sustainability into the operations at the Port of Portland, including the recent renovation project at the Portland International Airport. Before this role, he was chief of staff to Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, CEO of an energy efficiency finance company, and managing director of BP Alternative Energy’s global gas-fired power business. Curtis loves being outside, fishing, camping, and annual rafting trips with friends. He lives in Portland with his wife and two daughters.
Craig Johnston
Chief Executive Officer (retired), Forest City Trading Group
“As a third-generation member of the forest products industry, I have seen firsthand the importance of sustainable forest management. I look forward to collaborating with World Forestry Center to amplify the message of sustainable practices and their lasting, positive impact on ecosystems, communities, and the global environment.”
Craig recently retired after 42 years of climbing the ranks from trader to president to CEO at Forest City Trading Group. During his tenure, Craig guided FCTG through significant growth and transformation, including becoming an employee-owned company and developing one of North America’s largest wholesale building products trading and distribution companies. Craig continues to support as executive chairman of the FCTG Board of Directors. He enjoys traveling, fishing, skiing, and doing anything outdoors and spending time with his wife, two sons, and two dogs.
New Staff Members
Brent Haugen
Office Manager
Brent joined the team in September 2024 as our new Office Manager. Brent has a long history working in non-profits, specializing in non-profit management, systems, tourism, destination marketing, and conservation. He has an AA in Business Administration and a BS in Marketing Management. One of the aspects he loves most about working at World Forestry Center is implementing effective systems to help amplify the mission of sustainable forestry from the inside out.
Mairin Thorne Office Manager
Mairin recently joined the Discovery Museum team as our new Visitor Services Associate. She recently graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a bachelor’s degree in biology and hopes to pursue a PhD in Invertebrate Ecology. She is passionate about insect biodiversity conservation (her favorite bug is a spider) and the intersection of environmentalism and social justice. Mairin is an avid reader and cat parent and seeks opportunities to foster meaningful connections between people and forests, something she is excited to continue in her role at the World Forestry Center.
