Our Mission & Vision

For over 60 years, we have been a mission-driven nonprofit at the intersection of people and forests.

We Need Forests. They Need Us too.

Forests are essential to life and to the story of humanity. They provide clean water, recreational spaces, biodiversity, climate solutions, and sustainable resources. Yet, these critical ecosystems and their management are at risk as people have grown disconnected from our role as forest stewards. Without a shift in understanding and action, we face a future of worsening wildfires, diminished biodiversity, and lost environmental solutions. We need forests, but they need us too.

Through innovative programming, unconventional collaborations, and a revitalized urban campus, World Forestry Center is changing the way people see forests. We empower communities and leaders by sharing forestry expertise, highlighting forests’ critical connection to all our lives, and daylighting the actions that support healthy forest management.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create and inspire champions of sustainable forestry.

Forests are vital to our communities, our economy, and our climate. At World Forestry Center, our mission drives everything we do—from immersive exhibits and educational programs to strategic partnerships and leadership development. By connecting people to forests in meaningful ways, we empower individuals and organizations to act as stewards of these essential landscapes.

Our Vision

We envision a society that values and takes action to support the economic, ecological, and social benefits of forests.

It is essential that society recognizes the critical role forests play in daily life, that leaders make informed decisions sustaining both natural and human systems, and that collaboration and innovation ensure forests thrive for generations to come. Through education, dialogue, and action, we cultivate a future where forests and people flourish together.
