Commemorative Blanket Design for World Forestry Center’s 60th Anniversary
We are no longer accepting submissions. Thank you to all who submitted a design!
World Forestry Center (WFC) was established in 1966 and continues to create and inspire champions of sustainable forestry. We have accomplished this through community outreach, advocacy, ongoing programming, and exhibitions in our Discovery Museum. We are gearing up for our 60th anniversary in 2026 and have partnered with Pendleton to create a commemorative blanket. We are reaching out to the arts community for artists to submit their blanket designs in celebration of this momentous occasion!
The Theme: Forest(s)
WFC doesn’t limit its outreach to just the Pacific Northwest but around the world—it’s in our name! There are different types of forests that exist around the world. They can be broadly classified into three main types: tropical, temperate, and boreal forests–each characterized by distinct climate conditions and vegetation. Your design could capture the essence of one or all of them.
About the Award
If your artwork is chosen as the final design for the commemorative blanket, the chosen artist will receive special recognition from World Forestry Center and a cash award of $500. You will be invited as a special guest to the unveiling ceremony at the Discovery Museum 2026, and receive and be pictured with the first blanket. In addition, you will be featured on our social media channels, website, and your biography and story in our spring Evergreen publication. We will have the commemorative blankets available for sale, along with the artist’s biography, in our museum gift shop throughout the last part of 2026. We plan to provide blankets as special gifts with the printed artist’s biography to select members of our donor base and offer them in special giveaways in 2026.
